Inspired by paper and editorial design, the website resembles the pages of art catalogs, where images take center stage in the abundant white spaces. This editorial approach, supported by carefully designed interactions, provides the counterpoint of calm that helps the colorful work of PichiAvo to really stand out.
The dichotomy of their work - Classical Greco-Roman Art and Urban Contemporary Art - is articulated throughout the website by the use of typography and the vertical division of the screens.
PichiAvo is a duo of Valencian artists internationally recognized for their ability to create connexions between painting and sculpting in urban environments. A balanced fusion between classical Greco-Roman art and utterly contemporary Urban Art.
The Kormelink typeface, with ornamental serifs that evoke a Neoclassical finish, is combined with Aeornik Pro, an antagonistic typeface with a contemporary nature, rigid and with strict perpendicular lines.
The concept of intervention is transferred to the digital space. In the same way that PichiAvo intervenes in urban spaces, sculptures, and other elements, the website gives the visitor the possibility to interact and take part in the digital space, by activating the “draw mode” when clicking on the different dots enabled throughout the website.
The project listing page is of particular importance. The page is divided into two sections, following the two fields of application of PichiAvo’s work: indoor/outdoor. The result: two large vertically divided areas with independent scrolling that refer to two contiguous pages from a printed catalog.
